HMTC Members and Potential Members:

Please mark your calendars and make plans for these events:

USATF HAWAII JUNIOR OLYMPICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
1) Hawaii Jr. Olympics Championships will be held on Saturday, July 5 at UH. The competition for discus and javelin have been moved from Sunday, July 6 to July 5. HMTC is responsible for officiating the discus and javelin on the upper soccer field. Open and masters do not compete in this meet. There is no competition at UH on Sunday, July 6. We need at least five to eight HMTC members who can officiate on July 5. If you can help, please report about 8:45am on July 5 to the soccer field at the discus cage. We will check in the first flight of the discus at that time, help with the warm up period and begin the first flight at 9:00am. The first twelve Junior Olympians to check in at the discus area will be placed in the first flight.
Later flights of the discus and the javelin will be organized as the morning evolves. The athletes will be competing in other events at the track. The Jr. Olympians will be provided with four throws each.

HMTC PRACTICES FOR ALOHA STATE GAMES
2) HMTC will meet at Kaiser High on Sundays, July 6 and 13 to practice for the Aloha State Games. We will practice the throws on the lower field beginning at 8:00am on these two Sundays. If the repair work on the lights on the upper field is completed, we will practice sprints, long jumps and possibly organize some relay teams. Updates on availabilty of Kaiser will be posted in future emails and on www.hmtcgo.com

ALOHA STATE GAMES
3) Entry forms are available. HMTC members pay $20 to compete in up to six individual events plus two relays. This meet will be staged at the USATF Hawaii 2008 Masters Track and Field Championship. Masters rules will apply. On Saturday, July 19 all events except the Discus, Hammer and Javelin will be staged.
On Sunday morning July 20 the discus, hammer and Javelin will be held on the UH upper field. HMTC is responsible for providing officials for the July 20 events. We will officiate for younger age brackets as well as our own competition.

Electronic timing will be used for sprints. Masters will line up to rune after all younger age brackets. Masters will be allowed three trial attempts in jumps and throws and three more attempts in finals for men or women if they are in the top eight within their age bracket.

The times for events at Aloha State Games will be established after all entries are received. Plan to arrive at the UH track early on July 19 and 20 in order to check in before your first scheduled event. Submit your entry form as soon as possible. There is a deadline a few days before the meet. If you want to enter six events, add two more lines to the four available on the printed form. There is no pre-registration for the relays.
